Fatherhood and Baseball
I haven’t had too much time lately to devote to blogging to the Brewers. One factor being that my new role of fatherhood has taken priority. I can say that I have enjoyed every minute so far, even the diaper changes and late night feedings. Okay, maybe not a feeding at 2 A.M. with 2 hours of sleep but the benefits is far greater. My wife and daughter are visiting family in the Twin Cities right now. I am home all alone listening to the Brewers. Hmm,... being able to sleep through the night for the first time in months. Not a bad gig for me. But then I will be going up there this weekend and joining my family. I have to admit I miss them right now.
Baseball is on the back burner but not forgotten. I have been following the Brewers as fiercely as ever. I have to be happy with the Crew’s lead so far. I am still exercising “cautious optimism” but they have been really battling it out lately. It is exciting that that the Brewers are actually the leaders in their division. Even some local Houstonians are commenting on how well they are doing. Now if they could just get some love on MLB.com or ESPN.
Even though the have been getting the “W” lately a lot of the games recently (if not most) have been close. I still think the come from behind win on April 23 against the Cubs says a lot about how hard this team works. You feel that they will work hard for every run. For what I have been able to witness it look like Hardy has been ”Mr. Clutch” lately. A lot of the guys have been stepping up to the next level.
My wife and I decided to venture out into the real world with our daughter and take in a game in Houston at Minute
Maid Park. We went to the Astros/Marlins game on Tuesday, April 17, 2007. She witnessed former Brewer Carlos Lee’s first home run as an Astro and an overall dominating performance by the Astros that night. We got to take in the atmosphere at Minute Maid Park. Great baseball and great fans in Houston made for a fun night. Our daughter even enjoyed watching the game (good sign for a baseball crazy daddy). I can’t say the 7th inning stretch tradition of “Deep in the Heart of Texas” is as good as “Roll out the Barrel” but it is still fun.
Brewers are red hot and I can’t be happier. It is still early and a lot of games left to be played. But I wish I were in Milwaukee eatin’ a brat in Miller Park. I will be posting during the season but have to tend to my family needs first.
PS – If anyone can direct me to this 6-9 month pink Brewers onesie for the Brewers visit to Minute Maid. I would be forever grateful. Brewers MLB shop and Ebay haven’t been any help
as of yet. They offered it last year to which I carelessly said “Oh I’ll get it later”.

iam trying to buy a brewer spanish jersey. tried the shop and several other avenues, but to no avail. any info would be appreciated. thanks, Colin Pankow Sr.
